What's iRacing?
iRacing is an online driving simulator that focuses on providing a realistic and competitive experience for motorsport enthusiasts
iRacing features officially licensed content, including a variety of cars and race circuits from around the world, meticulously recreated to offer a detailed virtual racing experience. The platform heavily emphasizes multiplayer gameplay, allowing users to compete against real-time opponents in online leagues, events, and championships.
While iRacing may not always prioritize cutting-edge graphics, it strives to deliver an authentic visual and auditory experience. Operating on a subscription-based model, users pay a monthly fee for access and can also purchase additional content. Notably, iRacing has gained popularity not only among enthusiasts but also among professional drivers who use it as a tool for training and skill development before real-world competitions.
What's a Streamer?
A "streamer" refers to an individual who broadcasts content in real-time over the Internet, typically through live streaming platforms. Streamers can broadcast a variety of content, but the term is commonly used in the context of video games, where players livestream their gameplay for others to watch.
Some streamers specialize in gaming and create content focused on their gaming skills, commentary on games, or simply interacting with their audience. Besides gaming, there are streamers who broadcast content related to music, art, cooking, live talks, and more. Real-time interaction with the audience often occurs through a chat feature on the streaming platform.
Popular platforms for streaming include Twitch, YouTube Gaming, and Facebook Gaming, among others. Streamers can gain followers and, in some cases, generate revenue through viewer donations, paid subscriptions, ads, and sponsorship deals. The popularity of streaming has led to the formation of communities dedicated to various interests, contributing to the rise of online streaming culture.
So...what's ISF?
In 2020, I had the privilege of collaborating with Xavier Abellán (Chayers59) in creating and organizing an exciting iRacing competition, known as "ISF (iRacing Streamer Fantasy)." This event not only marked a milestone in my career but also attracted the participation of prominent real-world drivers who embraced the virtual challenge.
Design and Organization: The competition was more than just a virtual event; it was a meticulously designed experience, blending the virtual world of iRacing with the excitement and skills of real-world drivers. We worked tirelessly to create a scenario that challenged both professional simracers and renowned names from real-world tracks.
Prominent Participants: The quality of the competition skyrocketed with the involvement of renowned drivers like Alex Palou, Tony Kanaan, Dani Juncadella, Roldán Rodríguez, Jimmy Broadbent and others. Witnessing these talented professionals transfer their skills from the asphalt to the virtual realm was an exhilarating testament to the convergence of real and virtual motorsports.
Stellar Participation of Spanish Streamers: The ISF (iRacing Streamer Fantasy) featured the participation of the best Spanish streamers in the motor racing and virtual racing competition scene. Among them were prominent figures such as Stradi, Heikki, Pablo López, PhotoRacer, OriolRace, Alxinako, IMBRubio77, and many more. These passionate streamers not only showcased their iRacing skills but also enriched the competition with their charisma and unique styles.
Personal Contribution: As the graphic designer and social media marketing strategist, particularly on Twitter, I had the honor of playing a key role in the success of the ISF. I developed visually striking and effective strategies, creating an online presence that generated anticipation and engagement. The combination of creative design and marketing strategy significantly contributed to the global impact and notoriety of the event.
Global Impact and in the Virtual Racing World: Throughout the month-long duration of the ISF, social media in the virtual racing world was exclusively buzzing about our competition. The ISF became the hot topic that captured the attention of enthusiasts and followers worldwide. Discussions centered around this new competition that not only attracted the best drivers in the Spanish scene but also globally.
Impact on My Professional Journey: The ISF project was not only a success in terms of participation and viewership but also opened new opportunities in my professional journey. Through Twitter, the competition connected me with numerous Spanish streamers, marking the beginning of various projects related to the world of motorsports and streaming platforms, especially on Twitch. This experience not only solidified my presence in the streamer community but also laid the foundation for future collaborations and exciting projects.
Professional Broadcast: The magnitude of the event was reflected in its official broadcast, featuring professional commentators. This coverage not only provided a high-quality viewing experience but also established the ISF as a pioneering competition that seamlessly merges virtual competition with professional broadcast standards.
This competition showcased my ability to conceptualize, organize, and execute high-level events, bridging the realms of simracing and real-world motorsports. I am grateful for the collaboration with Xavier Abellán and for the opportunity to contribute to the growing synergy between reality and virtuality in motorsports. This project was not just a competition; it was a bridge between two universes, driven by passion and innovation.
